Preliminary report for Intertraffic in Amsterdam | 03.03.2008
Stationary speed enforcement without the need for in-road equipment For the first time at an international exhibition VITRONIC will present the stationary variant of PoliScanspeed to the trade visitors. The laser-based measurement system is capable of simultaneously measuring several vehicles travelling on a multi-lane highway closely behind each other. If a violation is detected then the case data is collected and digitally documented. In-road equipment such as induction loops or piezo sensors are not required. Up to two measurement and documentation units, mounted within a single pillar, provide enforcement for traffic travelling in both directions.Unobtrusive integration into the urban landscape was part of the design brief for PoliScanspeed fixed and the resulting elegant, inconspicuous design achieves these goals. The pillar is comprised of several segments which can be independently assembled and aligned. This concept enables each measurement / documentation unit to be rotated freely during commissioning of a site prior to fixing. Measurement / documentation units are removable and can be relocated to other pillars. Incident records may be downloaded to back office systems using various protected networks or can be retrieved directly at the pillar using a separate operator interface unit.
Innovations in ANPR
At Intertraffic VITRONIC will demonstrate its commitment to innovation with the introduction of PoliScanin-car, the latest addition to the ANPR product family. The compact system, weighing just one kilogram, can be temporarily attached to the windscreen or permanently installed within the vehicle, even on those with tinted or reflective glass. Undetectable license plate reading is carried out automatically, requiring minimal manual input.
With PoliScansurveillance and PoliScansmart VITRONIC offer two well established ANPR systems which can read and identify with the highest accuracy and require no in-road equipment, whilst providing complete data protection
3D vehicle classification
Precise classification of vehicles is a prerequisite for the efficient collection of road toll fees at toll booths. Only in such circumstances is the toll operator able to achieve rapid processing, reducing transaction costs. Using laser based technology, TollCheckeravc provides a real time vehicle classification solution for toll calculation. TollCheckeravc captures relevant information such as vehicle height and width, counts axles and trailer axles determines trailer presence, automatically separates vehicles traveling closely behind each other, and recognizes roof loads such as bicycles or ski racks, preventing miscalculations or inaccuracies.
The VITRONIC classification system operates effectively with stop and go traffic and with accelerating vehicles and reversing vehicles. Ideal for the upgrade of existing toll stations TollCheckeravc is particularly suited to the upgrading of existing toll stations. The classification system requires no roadside installations such as induction loops or light barriers. Thanks to the detailed vehicle capture, a secure classification result is also achieved with limited lane lengths.
TollCheckeravc generates a detailed 3D model of every vehicle which it uses to specify the vehicle’s features. This modern classification technology is a proprietary development by VITRONIC. It has now been field-tested for many years, classifying more than a million vehicles every day, in several lanes of free flowing traffic, in the context of the heavy goods vehicle toll system in Germany.
