Now for the first time certified volume measurement is possible over sorters. This allows cuboidal goods to be measured on tilt tray sorters and cross belt sorters. As a part of the VIPAC identification system, VOLUMEC HS2s serves the enhancement of logistical processes and facilitates revenue recovery. VOLUMEC HS2s from VITRONIC has been certified in accordance with the new European MID guidelines. The German National Metrology Institute (PTB) in Braunschweig has confirmed this with the test certification number of DE-07-MI009-PTB001. Certification is thus approved throughout Europe.

Up to now, cuboidal goods have been measured with certified system only over belt conveyors. The new VITRONIC technology enables certified volume measurements where the generated data is requested: over sorters. This information is important in the logistics process chain to control the storage of packaged items, to enhance loading in the transport fleet, to gather statistics, and to allow revenue recovery. The VIPAC identification system can also ascertain additional information such as the reading of barcodes, 2D codes and also weight capture. The information gathered can then be compared with available customer data, meaning discrepancies can be identified rapidly. With the help of the identification system and the tamper-proof stored data, it`s possible to create invoices automatically and to compare parcel information from the customer with the measured data.

The volume measuring system is mainly used by courier, express and parcel service providers, as well as in mail order companies. VOLUMEC HS2s measures cuboidal goods three dimensionally at speeds of up to 2.5ms. The maximum dimensions of the packaged goods are determined with a measuring accuracy of ± 5mm for the height, and ± 10mm in lenght and widt. The system calculates the volume of the smallest possible rectangular box that will surround the item.
