1. Factory Automation News

Surface and contour inspection sets benchmarks
One of the largest German automotive manufacturers is now using the new generation of VINSPEC systems that inspects cylinder heads. More systems are in use in the automotive supplying industry to inspect oil pans, gear sealings and cylinder head gaskets in time with production. Due to the high capability of our line scan camera systems, VITRONIC sets benchmarks in fully automatic surface and contour inspection. Relevant inspection areas and contours can be derived from CAD masters. With flexible methods of compensations they are aligned automatically to deflections of the inspection surfaces, contraction and expansion as well as acceptable offset of single areas to each other at every single check.

VINSPECweb inspects webs successfully
VITRONIC's solutions are leading to follows-up orders: AMCOR Flexibles in Belgium ensures the high quality of its flexible packaging solutions with two additional standard systems to inspect transparent multi-layer blow films. The company Benecke Kaliko in Germany - one of the largest pattern and foam films manufacturers - uses high resolution line scan camera systems to inspect foils.

3. Traffic Technology News

Nestor Traffic Systems Inc. succeeds with mobile speed enforcement vehicle
Nestor Traffic Systems Inc., VITRONIC's US sales partner for traffic supervision systems, has achieved an encouraging PoliScanspeed sales launch. Already the first presentation of PoliScanspeed at an exhibition caused a sensation. In July 2005 at the conference "Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police", Nestor received the "outstanding exhibit" award for an extraordinary presentation of the world-wide unique product.

Automatic speed enforcement represents a novelty in the USA, but fast becoming legal in many more states. Up to now, policemen have been measuring vehicle's speed and stopping the violators immediately. Adoption of VITRONIC's PoliScanspeed enforcement systems is growing fast, in fact Nestor has ordered a larger quantity of VITRONIC's PoliScanspeed to meet the demand. Rollout and installation into the vans is in full progress. Most of the ordered vans will be set up near schools and play schools to provide for compliance with speed limit. Another major use of the system will be at construction sides, where speed enforcement saves lives. A novelty in speed enforcement is the supervision of both driving directions and parallel lanes in each single direction with one system. PoliScanspeed can record and measure several vehicles in parallel lanes simultaneously. This is a unique feature compared to conventional radar systems: in such cases, the complete measurement would have to be ignored. Naturally, VITRONIC's modern system records digital pictures instead of films used in older systems.
